A charity that provides assistance to under-privileged women in getting back into the jobs market held a fund-raiser recently where accessories and workwear were donated.
Dress for Success New Hampshire is a branch of a worldwide non-profit organisation that aims to supply appropriate work-environment clothing and employment services to women who are stepping up from public assistance to self-reliance.
Corissa DeSaulnier is owner of Buzz PR and Promotions, and vice president of the Southern New Hampshire Women's Business Network (SNHWBN).
She said: "This is the first time we have done fundraising for another organisation and now that we have grown into a stronger group, we feel it is time to start supporting other causes besides our own."
Women who benefit from Dress for Success have usually been referred and are teamed up with a volunteer outfitter who advises on personal choices of workwear.
The corporate clothing is donated clean, pressed and on hangers in a virtually new state and in many cases has not been worn while boxed or bagged clothing is not accepted.
The client also receives support and encouragement in preparation for interviews and once employed, she is able to select additional outfits to help build a working wardrobe.
