Organic printed t-shirts price drop

Thu, 17 Jul 2008 18:07

UK clothing firm, Continental Clothing has bucked the trend where overheads push up the price of manufacturing, by reducing the price of its EarthPositive range of organic t-shirts by more than 10 per cent.

The move brings the price in line with the cost of its conventionally produced, non-organic t-shirts.

EarthPositive's utilisation of renewable energy means that pricing structures aren't affected by oil, transportation and raw material costs.

Continental Clothing director, Philip Charles, commented: "The uncontrollable rise in the price of oil is causing rapidly spiralling prices for energy, food and transportation, and it is now impacting on our industry."

"However, EarthPositive apparel does not reply on oil for its energy, it relies on wind power which is clean, renewable and free and so not only is EarthPositive not putting up its prices, it is actually reducing them - by over 10 per cent."

According to the company, the gap between organic and conventional cotton is becoming narrower but would urge more firms to use the 'organic in conversion' cotton.

This type of cotton is grown on recently converted land where residues of pesticides and fertilisers may still be found in the soil, although none have been directly used for some time.
