Live United printed clothes travels the world

Tue, 30 Dec 2008 11:02

Consilium clothing - experts in screen printed clothing.

Items of screen printed clothing have travelled the world to spread a charity's message to as many people as possible.

The Snohomish County United Way in Everett, US, created the printed t-shirts, which bear the slogan Live United in black lettering.

A contest was launched to encourage people to spread the charity's message by being pictured wearing the printed clothes at the furthest distance away from Everett.

Jessie Wachter was the eventual winner after being photographed over 8,100 miles away at the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in Bylakuppe, India.

Deborah Squires, vice president of communications for the charity, expressed her surprise to the Everett Herald as to how much the contest had caught on.

"The travelling t-shirt contest was something we cooked up all by ourselves and it took off," Ms Squires explained.

"To get into the contest, all they had to do was answer a few questions then go out and see how far they could get," she added.

Judette Hemachandra came in second place with a photo 6,810 miles away in Saqqara, Egypt, while third place was secured by Bob Strom in Haifa, Israel, which is 6,679 miles from Everett.
