Printed t-shirt sellers jailed

Mon, 22 Sep 2008 13:43

A group that sold printed t-shirts to raise money for terrorist activities has been jailed.Six defendants were sentenced at Denmark's Eastern High Court for their association with the printed t-shirt company Fighters + Lovers. Some printed t-shirts sold by the company featured acronyms of two well-known terrorist organisations - the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (Farc) and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).The defendants were told they would be jailed for between 60 days and six months after admitting that they had produced and sold the t-shirts.Thorkild Hoeyer, the defence lawyer, branded the ruling "insane" and claimed that he would seek to overturn the convictions with an appeal.Michael Schoelardt, managing director at the company, said: "Now we have to keep our minds clear and find out how we can continue the fight that we have started."We must stand firm in our fight for peace and justice in the world."
