Printed t-shirts raise cancer awareness

Thu, 4 Sep 2008 10:49

Men have been wearing pink printed t-shirts at one US university to show their support for breast cancer research.

University of Kentucky fraternity Alpha Gamma Rho designed the "Real Men Wear Pink" t-shirts and have now sold over 500 on the campus.

Promotional t-shirts have also been designed for the university's female students and carry the slogan: "My Man Wears Pink".

Will Stahl, president of Kentucky's Alpha Gamma Rho chapter, chose to have the promotional t-shirts made in pink as the colour is generally associated with breast cancer charities.

Money raised from the sale of the shirts will go to the Susan G Komen For the Cure organisation.

Speaking to local newspaper the Herald-Leader, he said: "When you have a cause like this one, it's not hard to sell.

"One out of every three women before they die will either have breast cancer or know someone who does. But it's a disease that is easy to catch if you check for it early, and it can be dealt with it if it's caught early."
